About the Presenter

Denise Abdul-Rahman • BS, MBA, HCM, HIS

Denise Abdul-Rahman is the Founder and Chief Equity Officer of Black Sun Light Sustainability (BSLS). With a mission to radically transform, maintain, and support a diverse and just transition both domestically and internationally, she brings extensive expertise in equitable energy policy, training, and clean energy development.

Abdul-Rahman holds a BS in management, an MBA in healthcare management, and a health informatics designation from Indiana University School of Informatics. She is a Black Woman Foreign War Veteran of Operation Desert Storm and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Transdisciplinary Leadership Creativity and Sustainability.

Her leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Indiana University Robert McKinney School of Law Environmental Protection Award, the Vote Solar Dr. Espanola Jackson Award, and the NAACP Medgar Evers Nominee 2021.

The session will outline how to become a certified solar trainer, the resources available to launch training programs, and how to connect trainees with job opportunities in the rapidly expanding solar sector. This program aligns with national initiatives to ensure that the benefits of clean energy reach all communities, particularly those historically underrepresented in the energy sector.
