FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – UNCF (United Negro College Fund) Fort Wayne Leadership Council will host the annual Fort Wayne Mayor’s Breakfast on September 15, 2020, on Hopin, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Hosted by Mayor Tom Henry, more than 100 community influencers, education leaders and supporters of UNCF will gather to raise funding for the next generation of leaders in providing the needed resources to get to and through college and historically black colleges and universities. (HBCUs), “Investing in the lives of students and our future leaders is critical as we work to ensure Fort Wayne remains a point-of-destination city to live, work and play,” said Mayor Henry. “We respect and value diversity and providing opportunities for individuals to succeed. Through collaborative efforts like this partnership with UNCF, we can make a lasting and meaningful difference.”
Since 2007, UNCF’s Fort Wayne Leadership Council has been committed to changing the lives of Ll deserving Fort Wayne and Allen County students through education. Awarding more than 75 scholarships and raising more than $250,000 in funding to help deserving, the council’s commitment remains steadfast. “Helping local students develop their full potential and gain access to the benefits of a college education and subsequently a meaningful career is the focus of our leadership council’s efforts,” said Brad Stiles, UNCF Indianapolis’ Fort Wayne Leadership Council chair.
For 75 years, UNCF has supported students and private historically black colleges and universities. Awarding more than $4.8 billion to help students not just attend college, but thrive, graduate and become leaders. Events such as the Fort Wayne Mayor’s Breakfast are necessary for building thriving communities and are made possible through the support from corporate and community giving.
